Retainers

Retainers are custom-made devices provided after  surgery or after removing the brace and are  usually made of wire or clear plastic to hold the teeth together. After using the brace and all the teeth are aligned, you may loosen  a little if you stop using the brace. This can be out of alignment again. Therefore, retainers are used to hold teeth of a certain length in the new position for distinct period of time. 

 How long do I need to wear a retainer? Well, the answer may depend on the type of tooth. It should be worn daily and at night, and when worn at night it will decrease over time. If you don’t wear the retainer regularly, the teeth properly aligned by the braces will return to their original position, which may not be a good thing.
