Removable Restoration

Detachable/Removable restorations are commonly referred to as overdentures because they cover and hold  the implant firmly. With removable restorations, these are equivalent to fixed implant support restorations, as a series of 46 dental implants hold them in place. Rods or other specialized devices are usually attached to these implants. Overdentures snap directly to these implants.

Despite the fact that this type of denture is removable, overdentures are different from traditional dentures that fit snugly on the gums and are held in place by friction and dental glue. Overdentures are more stable and durable than traditional dentures because they are firmly attached  to the denture. However, it is not as durable or strong as a fixed implant support restoration.

There are many types of solutions to tooth-related problems such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, cracks and chips in teeth, sensitive teeth, and oral cancer. There are two solutions, including removable  and non-removable restorations (fixed implant support restorations). Simple restoration is the basic method for replacing or repairing a  missing tooth. Professional dentists also prioritize missing  tooth structures and  tooth structures that need to be removed to prevent future pain-causing cavities.

Some of the most commonly used removable restorations are:

  • Denture Complete
  • Lucitone 199 denture
  • Flipper
  • Flexible Partial
  • Flex + Cast Combo Partial
  • Flex + Cast Vitallium 2000 Partial
  • Cast Premium Partial
  • Vitallium 2000 Partial
  • CLEAR Complete Partial
  • Valplast Partial

Why removable restoration?

In cases when there are too many missing teeth in a span, or if the jawbone or neighboring teeth are too weak to support a fixed bridge or dental implant, a removable dental bridge is a good choice. Overdentures are therefore an excellent option for patients who have struggled with issues like periodontal disease in the past or even who are a bit not sure about going through surgery and are concerned with maintaining perfect oral hygiene.

 Benefits of removable restorations

Some of the benefits of removable restorations are:

  •  Restore function and aesthetics as needed
